This is the technique most often utilized at Rockefeller Plaza Cosmetic MDs.  The procedure is performed in conjunction with abdominal liposuction using tumescent local solution. 

This provides the anesthesia and allows for a thinning of the abdominal wall, permitting a more tapered appearance.

The attachment of the skin to the navel can be released and repositioned with a new opening (Modified Technique) or “floated” depending on the amount of skin removed and its laxity.

The waist can be made narrower (high lateral tension).

This is a less invasive procedure in that the muscles that support your abdominal wall are generally not stitched together.  Only the lose, lower belly area skin is removed, the  incision can be smaller, but usually  liposuction is not performed at the same time.  This is can be done at Rockefeller Plaza Cosmetic MDs on those patients who had recent liposuction.

Abdominoplasty is a cosmetic procedure that treats loose or sagging abdominal skin.  The lose skin may accumulate after pregnancy, obesity or natural age factors. Good candidates for abdominoplasty are individuals in good health who have tried to address their shape issues with diet and exercise with little or no results.

An abdominoplasty is not a scar-free surgery.  The scars can be quite long.  The length and look of the scar depends on the amount of skin needed to be removed and your body’s ability to heal.

This is the most invasive technique and is usually reserved for people with very lose abdominal wall muscles and very lose skin, much as with someone who is recovering from gastric by pass surgery.

The doctors at Rockefeller Plaza Cosmetic MDs use the smallest incision possible, leaving a scar in a place that will be covered by a standard bikini.  However, the incision may need to be large (hip to hip) or be placed higher to insure that you have a flat tummy and look great in tight, form fitting clothes.
